Sag Harbor

Home port. Whalers' town turned quiet harbor.

Sag Harbor is our home port and the anchor for most of our charters. The village hugs the harbor, the main street ends at the water, and the docks are a five-minute walk from a real bookstore, a good coffee, and Long Wharf. We know every slip here, every dockhand, and the difference between a Tuesday morning and a Saturday of the Grand Prix. If you have never spent a day on the North Fork side of things, starting here is the easy call. Sunset light in Sag is unfair. Sound carries. The ride out of the harbor toward Cedar Point is calm even when everything else is chop, and you can be at a sandbar off Shelter in fifteen minutes without pushing the throttle. We recommend a mid-afternoon boarding, an hour of sandbar time, dinner reservations back on the wharf.

We are Carter and Sean. We grew up on this water. Sag Harbor is our home port and our home town. If you want a private day on the bay, we can get you out fast. Our fleet runs from a 22 ft day boat all the way up to a 122 ft event yacht. Every trip starts right in the village, steps from Long Wharf.

Why charter out of Sag Harbor

Sag Harbor sits in a sweet spot. You get calm water inside the cove, then open bay right outside the channel. From the dock we can reach Shelter Island in about ten minutes. North Haven and Noyac are just as close. That means less running time and more time on the water. It also means we can shift plans on the fly if the wind kicks up.

The village itself is a big part of the pitch. You can walk off the boat and grab dinner at one of the waterfront restaurants on Long Wharf. You can duck into a shop on Main Street. Or you can stay on the boat, drop the swim ladder, and never touch land. A Sag Harbor boat rental with us is flexible. We shape the day around you.

We are also USCG licensed and fully insured. Our pricing is on the site, no games. If you email us, we reply fast, usually the same hour. Check the page to see the boats.

Top routes andd stops from Sag Harbor

Route one is the Shelter Island loop. We head out the channel, cross into Shelter Island Sound, and swing past Dering Harbor. You can see the old estates from the water. We can anchor off Crescent Beach for a swim, then run back for lunch. This is our most booked half day trip.

Route two is the North Haven and Noyac Bay run. This is quiet water. Great for families with small kids and anyone who wants a smooth ride. We can drift near Jessup Neck, watch the birds, and stop at a soft sand spot for wading. Very local. Very calm.

Route three is the sunset cruise past Cedar Point Lighthouse. We leave about two hours before sunset. We run east into Gardiners Bay, ease past the old lighthouse, and turn back toward town as the sky lights up. The village looks its best from the water at that hour.

Best boats for Sag Harbor

For two to six people, we like the 22 ft and 28 ft day boats. They are quick, fuel friendly, and perfect for hopping around the bay. For a bigger group, our mid size cruisers hold up to twelve. For a party or a wedding day, the 122 ft event yacht is set up for big groups with a full crew. See specs and photos on .

Boarding,parking, and logistics

Boarding is at Long Wharf in the village. Parking in town can get tight in July and August, so plan on arriving 20 minutes early. There is a public lot right by the wharf and street parking on the side roads. If you have a lot of gear, drop it at the dock first, then park.

Bring soft soled shoes, sunscreen, a light layer for the ride home, and any food or drink you want on board. We supply water, ice, towels, and a clean head. Kids and pets are welcome. Just tell us ahead of time so we can set up.

Best time of year and weather notes

Our season runs from May through October. June and September are our favorite months. The water is warm, the crowds are lighter, and the light is soft. July and August are peak, so book early. We watch the wind out of the south in the afternoon. If it is honking, we shift the route to protected water so the ride stays smooth.

What locals do vs. what tourists ask for

Tourists ask for the party boat scene near the bigger hot spots. Locals go the other way. We know the quiet coves where you can drop anchor and hear nothing but gulls. We know which beach has the best shells at low tide. We know when to leave the dock to beat the crowd. Tell us what kind of day you want and we will point you at the local version. Also see our Shelter Island and East Hampton pages for close by trips.
