Amagansett

Beach launches, small charters, low-key days.

Amagansett does not have a working harbor in town, so charters here are usually beach launches on the bay side or short drives to Three Mile Harbor. It is our favorite kind of morning. You walk out from a rental house, meet the tender on the sand, and are out on the water before most of the East End is awake. Napeague Bay is protected, shallow, and warm, and it is where we send guests who want a real quiet day away from the sandbar crowd. We work with two smaller center consoles here that draw shallow enough to nose right up to the beach. Amagansett is the right call if your group is small, you are staying nearby, and you want a soft day with no lines and no marina traffic. Bring a real hat.

Local FAQ

Is there a dock in Amagansett?+

Not really. Most of our Amagansett trips are beach launches on the bay side.

How does beach pickup work?+

We text the exact spot the morning of. Meet the tender, hop on, we take you to the boat.

What about the ocean side?+

The ocean beach here does not launch easily. We stay on the bay for Amagansett charters.

We are Carter and Sean, local captains out of Sag Harbor. Amagansett is one of our favorite towns for a quiet family day on the water. Napeague is close, Gardiners Bay is right there, and the crowd is lighter than the bigger villages. Boats from 22 ft to 122 ft with a captain on every trip.

Why charter out of Amagansett

Amagansett has that low key feel that people come to the East End for. The Napeague stretch is short and easy to reach from town. Once you are on the water, you have Napeague Harbor to the south and Gardiners Bay to the north. The Devon area gives you protected water that is great for kids and first time boaters.

An Amagansett yacht charter with us is usually a family day. We anchor in shallow water, drop the ladder, and let the kids play. We pack the coolers, bring the tubes, and take our time. If you want a bigger run, we can push out into Gardiners Bay for the wide view.

We are USCG licensed and insured. See fleet at .

Top routes and stops from Amagansett

Route one is the Napeague Harbor drift. Napeague is a shallow, warm harbor with a soft bottom. Great for wading. We anchor, kids play, adults relax. Simple and perfect for young families.

Route two is the Gardiners Bay run. We push north into the big bay and give you the wide view. Gardiners Island sits off to the east. The island is private, so we stay off shore, but the view is worth the trip.

Route three is the Devon area cruise. We work along the shoreline near Devon, past the classic yacht club scene, and out toward Cartwright Shoal. Nice cruise with a mix of calm water and open bay.

Boarding,parking, and logistics

We board Amagansett charters at nearby marinas depending on the day and the boat. Some days we pick up in Three Mile Harbor and swing east. Some days we meet in Napeague. We share the exact spot after booking. Parking is easy in the off hours and tight at peak. Give yourself 15 minutes.

Pack sun protection, snacks, and a change of clothes. Kids love a swim toy or two. We supply ice, water, towels, and a clean head.

Best time of year and weather notes

June through mid September is prime for Amagansett. Napeague warms up early because it is shallow. July water can hit the low 80s. Wind out of the south builds in the afternoon, so morning trips are usually smoother. If we see chop building on Gardiners Bay, we duck into the harbor for the second half of the day.

What locals do vs. what tourists ask for

Tourists ask for the party scene. Amagansett is not that. Locals here go slow. They anchor, swim, eat, and swim again. Locals bring the dog, the toddler, and the grandparents on the same trip. That is the Amagansett day. If you want a party day, we can do it, but the town is at its best when you match its pace. Also see our East Hampton and Montauk pages.
