Charter Type
Sunset Cruise
Ninety minutes to two hours of golden light.
Sunset is the easiest yes on the East End. Boarding is around six, glasses out by six-fifteen, and by the time the sun is behind Cedar Point everyone is quiet and looking west. We keep the boat moving slowly so the light stays even and no one is fighting the wind. It is our most requested charter and the one we book first every night. Groups of two to twelve, three hours from start to finish, back at the dock before dinner reservations. If you have never done it, this is the charter we would pick for you.
Sample day
- 6:00 pmBoarding. Cold drinks aboard.
- 6:30 pmSlow cruise past Cedar Point.
- 7:15 pmAnchor for a swim if the group wants.
- 8:30 pmReturn to Long Wharf.
Recommended boats
The sun sets late out here in the summer, and the light on Peconic Bay is the best part of the day. We run 3 hour Hamptons sunset cruise trips from Sag Harbor most nights from May through October. You bring your people. We bring the boat, the ice, and a playlist that fits the vibe.
This is our most booked trip for a reason. It fits a birthday, a date night, a work group, or just a Tuesday when you want to feel like the summer is not slipping away. A sunset yacht charter in the Hamptons is calm, pretty, and easy to enjoy. No long drives. No packed restaurant. Just water, sky, and the people you like.
What makes a great sunset cruise on the water
The best Hamptons sunset cruise has three things going for it. Timing, weather, and the right boat for your group.
We time the ride so you leave the dock with plenty of light. That gives you the pretty golden hour first, then the pink and orange sky, then the deep blue dusk on the ride home. If you show up too late, you miss the peak. We watch the sunset time for your date and set your pick up so you get all of it.
Weather matters too. We text you the morning of the trip with a clear go or no go call. If the wind or a storm looks bad, we move you to a better night at no cost. We would rather push a trip than give you a rough ride.
Then there is the boat. A sunset run is not the same as a party day. You want deck space, good seating, a place to set down a drink, and a stereo that sounds clean at low volume. Every boat in our fleet is set up for this.
A sample sunset day with us (hour by hour)
Here is what a normal 3 hour Hamptons sunset cruise looks like. We build the trip around the sun, so start times shift with the season.
- Pick up at Sag Harbor: You park, walk down the dock, and step on. We help load your cooler, bags, and any catering. Safety chat takes 2 minutes.
- First 30 minutes: We ease out of the harbor, past Shelter Island, and open up in Peconic Bay. Drinks come out. Music starts. Phones come out for photos.
- Middle hour: We find a calm spot with the best view. You can swim, float, or just sit. Some groups eat here. Some just drink and talk.
- Golden hour: We reposition so the sun sits right behind the boat for photos. This is the money shot. We take group pics for you.
- Sunset: The sky goes off. Everyone gets quiet for a minute. It happens every time.
- Ride home: Slow cruise back with the last light. You are back at the dock 3 hours after pick up.

What to bring and wear
Keep it simple.
- Layers. It cools off fast once the sun drops. A light jacket saves the night.
- Soft sole shoes or bare feet. No black soles.
- Sunglasses for the ride out.
- A phone charger. You will take a lot of photos.
- Drinks and snacks if you are not adding catering. We supply ice, cups, and a cooler.
Add-ons that pair well with a sunset cruise
Most guests keep it light, but here are the add-ons that fit a sunset trip well.
- Catering: Cheese and charcuterie boards, sushi platters, or a light dinner spread from a local Hamptons kitchen.
- Bar setup: We can pre-stock beer, wine, seltzers, and mixers so you skip the store run.
- Stewardess: A dedicated crew member to pour drinks and plate food.
- Photographer: A pro on board for 90 minutes for a birthday or a big anniversary.
- Flowers or cake: For a birthday or a surprise night.

Pricing and how it works
Sunset trips are priced by boat, not by head. You get the whole boat for 3 hours. That keeps it simple.
- Small day boats start around a few hundred dollars for the trip.
- Mid size yachts run higher based on the boat.
- Our 122 ft yacht is priced per event.
We text you a flat quote with tax and fuel included. No hidden fees. Tip is not required but always welcome for the crew.
