Fishing Charter

Bass, fluke, and a captain who actually fishes.

We run fishing charters out of Montauk, Sag Harbor, and Three Mile. The captains we work with grew up fishing these waters and can put you on stripers, fluke, or blues depending on the season. All rods, reels, tackle, bait, and licenses are handled. We keep it four hours minimum, six hours for the full day. If you want a keeper we will help you clean and bag it for the ride home. Kids welcome. No experience needed.

Recommended boats

The fishing in Peconic Bay and Gardiners Bay is some of the best on the East Coast, and it is right in our backyard. A Hamptons fishing charter with us puts you on fish, with the right gear, without the hassle of running your own boat.

We are Captains Carter and Sean. We are USCG licensed and grew up fishing these waters. We run half day and full day trips out of Sag Harbor from spring through fall. Bring your friends, bring your kid, or come solo. We handle the rest.

What makes a great fishing day on the water

A great fishing charter starts with the right captain reading the day. Tide, wind, water temp, and time of year all matter. We check all of it before we leave the dock.

We fish for what is running. In spring it is striped bass and fluke. Summer brings porgy, sea bass, bluefish, and more fluke. Fall the bass come back through in numbers. We tell you what to expect for your date when you book.

The boat matters too. We run boats set up for the fishing we do. Rods, reels, bait, tackle, ice, and a fish box are all on board. You bring lunch, drinks, sunscreen, and a good attitude.

We fish for fun. We take it seriously, but we do not run a tournament pace. If you want to talk, drink a beer, or just watch the water, that is your call.

A sample fishing day with us (hour by hour)

Here is a full day Hamptons fishing charter. Half days follow the same shape, just shorter.

  • 6:30 a.m. Meet at Sag Harbor. Load your cooler. Quick chat on the day's plan.
  • 7 a.m. Head out. Coffee on board. Ride to the first spot in Peconic or Gardiners Bay.
  • 7:45 a.m. Anchor or drift. Rigs go in the water. First fish soon after.
  • 10 a.m. Move to a second spot if the bite slows. Try a new depth or a new species.
  • 12 p.m. Lunch break. Eat while we drift. Kids swim if the spot is right.
  • 12:30 p.m. Back to fishing. Often the afternoon bite is the best.
  • 2:30 p.m. Last spot of the day. We work it until it is time to head in.
  • 3:30 p.m. Cruise back to Sag Harbor. We clean and bag your keeper fish.

Best boats for fishing charters

We match the boat to the group and the target species.

  • 1 to 4 anglers: A rigged 22 to 28 ft center console. Fast, nimble, gets to the spots.
  • 4 to 6 anglers: A larger center console with more deck room and a head on board.
  • 6 to 12 guests: A cruiser set up for a mixed group. Some fish, some hang out. Good for a bachelor party or a family day with kids.

If you want to bring 20 friends and split your time between fishing and hanging out, tell us. We can build a hybrid day.

What to bring and wear

Simple list.

  • Non-marking soft sole shoes or boat shoes.
  • A hat and polarized sunglasses. Polarized makes a big difference for spotting fish.
  • Sunscreen and a light long sleeve for sun.
  • A jacket for the ride out in spring or fall.
  • Food and drinks in a cooler. We have a bag of ice.
  • Cash for the mate tip.

You do not need to bring rods, tackle, or bait. It is all on board. If you have a favorite rod, bring it.

Add-ons that pair well with fishing charters

Most fishing trips stay simple, but a few add-ons help.

  • Fish cleaning and vacuum sealing: We can arrange to have your catch cleaned and sealed for the freezer.
  • Catering box lunches: Sandwiches, sides, and drinks so no one has to pack.
  • Photographer: For a bucket list trip or a big family day.
  • Extra mate: More hands to help kids and beginners land fish.

Full list on the [add-ons page].

Pricing and how it works

Fishing trips are priced by boat and by trip length.

  • Half day (4 hours) is a good fit for kids or a first time trip.
  • Three quarter day (6 hours) hits the best of two tides.
  • Full day (8 hours) is for serious anglers who want a full day on the water.

We send a flat text quote with tax, fuel, bait, and gear included. Deposit locks the date. Weather calls are made the morning of the trip.

Booking tips

  • Book 2 to 4 weeks out in the summer.
  • Weekdays have less boat traffic on the spots.
  • Full moon and new moon tides fish well.
  • Tell us your target species when you book. We plan the route.
  • If you have never fished, say so. We adjust the plan and take extra time to help.
